The Indian River Lagoon — the most biologically diverse estuary in North America — straddles 156 miles of Florida’s east coast, from Ponce Inlet in Volusia County, south to Jupiter Inlet in Palm Beach County. It is a salt water "tidal lagoon". It is the body of water within this geographical area between the mainland and the barrier island and that which the Indian Riverkeeper strives to help protect for future generations.
